Last Wednesday evening, I was invited by the Big City Moms to attend their 18th Biggest Baby Shower Event at the Metropolitan Pavillion in NYC. What an amazing event! As someone who is new to the world of baby, I thought it would be a treat for me to check it out considering how many amazing brands would be represented. I couldn’t wait to take it all in.
First of all, as overwhelming as the list of exhibitors was, the event was wildly organized and so much fun. In addition to having a really awesome roster of baby vendors big & small, they also included cool activities like interactive workshops & panel discussions, FOOD (you already know why I put that one in all-caps. Third trimester and I’m always hungry), spa treatments and everything in between.
Big City Moms partnered up with Fit Pregnancy to offer up this amazing exhibition for new & expectant parents. I learned SO much and discovered so many wonderful baby products. Here’s a snapshot of all I got into:
One of the first tables I stopped by was the Philips AVENT table. There are so many brands out there for baby feeding. I’ve heard great things about AVENT so I was intrigued. They’ve just recently released a brand new breast pump for nursing moms called the Philips AVENT Comfort Double electric breast pump. It’s supposed to have super cushiony nipples for supreme fit.
They also have a new Philips AVENT Natural feeding bottle with a wider nipple, similar to the natural curve of the breast, that’s supposed to help encourage latch if you’re alternating between nursing and bottle feeding. I plan to nurse so I’ll be checking this out.
When I started my first foray into shopping for baby, I started reading tons of reviews about the best carriers and car seats. One overwhelming finding was that Britax is highly regarded for safe and functional carriers, strollers and car seats. They had an impressive array of products to showcase. I’m thinking of trying one of their infant carriers for my little one.
These Maxi-Cosi car seats looked comfy enough for me to sit in myself. I love how much support and cushion they offer for baby and they look incredibly safe & bump-proof. The Pria 70 style on the left converts from supporting infants at 8 lbs through childhood up to 70 lbs. That’s impressive.
I’d never heard of Diono before attending the event. Immediately I was drawn to the size and functionality features of this car seat. The Diono Radian RXT convertible booster car seat can be rear-facing for infants and children 5 – 45 lbs and then front-facing for kids up to 120 lbs. That’s pretty amazing.
When my older sister had my nephew, I remember hearing her rave about Earth’s Best Organic foods. She was focused on giving him the very best ingredients in his baby food. Earth’s Best has an impressive array of organic baby food for infants and mini meals for toddlers.
I know once #babybrownsugar arrives, I’ll be investing alot of time and money into giving her foods with the best ingredients. If you can’t make homemade baby food all the time from fresh & organic ingredients, Earth’s Best seems like a great alternative.
I stumbled onto the exhibit table for Poof – the first biodegradable diaper. For eco-conscious parents, this is a great option if you’d like to utilize disposables with less of a footprint.
Another option for parents concerned about economical and green-friendly options for diapers is Charlie Banana. They’re one of the more popular brands for reusable diapering. You buy the reusable diaper cloth and just interchange the disposable inserts. They’re sold at many mass retailers including Target.
I was immediately drawn to the Skip Hop table. They had so many adorable baby toys on display. In addition, they had this faboosh baby bag sitting on the table!
It is SO hard to find fashionable/functional diaper bags. I’ve been searching high & low for one that won’t break the bank. This option from Skip Hop is perfect. It’s a neutral color, has really chic gold hardware but still functional with pockets and space for all of baby’s needs.
How adorable are these little shoes?! Oh my goodness. I ran to the Pediped table when I saw it. First off, I’m a shoe addict myself so I know I’m going to have trouble exercising self-control with my little girl’s shoe collection.
These little shoes look so comfortable and sturdy, but still so stylish. They have options for boys and girls.
This French designer collection 7am Enfant immediately caught my attention. From the sleek parkas to the functional car seat covers and the handbags, everything was so chic!
I thought this brand Magnificent Baby was so innovative. All of their baby apparel, from the onesies and robes to the baby bibs, are powered by magnets. So there’s no fussy buttons, zippers or snaps to mess with. Everything closes with an internal magnet. Very cool!
Baby Shower Treats
Can you say adorable? I absolutely love Rice Krispies Treats so when waddled over to the Treat House table I was in heaven. These are a sweet addition to any baby shower dessert table. They have all these fun flavors topped with everything from M&M’s to Red Velvet and S’Mores. There’s something for everyone!
Cake Pops are the new trendy dessert to hit pop culture with a bang. I’m still a huge fan of the epic cupcake tower, but I’ve been seeing cake pops at chic events everywhere lately. They’re SO good. This company Beni Delights has an impressive menu of options for baby shower dessert tables.
Just as I was starting to have fun, my belly started to itch. If you’re in your third trimester like me, you know what this is like. It’s SO uncomfortable. I slipped over to the Mama Mio table and the lovely reps gave me a sample of their Tummy Rub Stretch Mark Butter which worked like a dream! My skin instantly felt way better and it stayed moist for the remainder of the night.
Phew! This is only a small sampling of the overwhelming brands represented at the Big City Moms Biggest Baby Shower. It was an AMAZING event. Big thanks to them for having BabyBrownSugar in attendance.
